The group has included a wide range of other musicians that appear on the band’s studio albums and live shows. EODM’s current touring lineup includes the ever-present Hughes, Jennie Vee on bass, Leah Bluestein on drums, and Scott Shiflett on guitar. Despite their band name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band and is intended to be humorous. With a sound that’s a combination of ‘bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals,’ and a frontman in Hughes who is known for his over-the-top stage histrionics and evangelistic interaction with his fans, the band’s live performances are a sight to be seen. EODM has released four studio albums to date — Peace Love Death Metal, Death By Sexy, Heart On, and Zipper Down — and has toured the world extensively over the past two decades. A brand-new studio album is in the works for a worldwide release in 2025. EODM first appeared on Homme’s The Desert Sessions Volumes 3 & 4, released in 1998. Over the next few years, Homme experienced huge success with QOTSA but returned to EODM in 2004 to release their debut Peace Love Death Metal in March 2004. Songs like ‘I Only Want You’ and ‘Miss Alissa,’ from the album were used in TV commercials and the album became a source for film, video game and movie trailers. The band followed up their debut with Death By Sexy in 2006, and Heart On in 2008. After years of touring the US, Europe and the rest of the world, the band went back to the studio and started work on Zipper Down.
