Since 2010, The Garcia Project is more than a tribute, the band delivers the emotional and communal experience that made the classic Jerry Garcia Band so beloved. A recent Grateful Web feature described their performances as “a night of healing, heart, and pure Jerry magic,” noting that The Garcia Project opens “a little doorway back to the Jerry Garcia Band years,” with the same warmth, looseness, and deep musical breath that defined the original concerts. Over the years, fans have affectionately dubbed The Garcia Project the ‘DSO of JGB’ — not as a comparison to any other band, but to express the level of precision, intention, and respect they bring to recreating classic shows. All members of Pigs on the Wing are seasoned veterans of the Pacific NW rock scene and are unapologetic in bringing the wide-ranging musical influences to the table. Setting the band aside from other tribute-rock act Pigs on the Wing balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with the precision and authenticity expected by Pink Floyd fans. Amongst the band’s accomplishments, Pigs on the Wing has in recent years featured full album performances of The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall and recently ranked the #4 Pink Floyd tribute worldwide. None are bigger fans of the work of Pi Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing themselves, and the band takes their role as stewards of the music seriously – something immediately evident in the bands’ immersive performances. Their music is best described as singer-songwriter/folk. The Quons will be joined by special guest Casey Willis on fiddle. At 19, Casey moved to Tennessee and played country and bluegrass music with Grand Old Opry stars including Dolly Parton, Craig Morgan, Johnny Russell, and many others. Casey is currently a member of local band favorite, Skillethead. So Much Closer is a wife/husband songwriting team (vocalist Holly Davidson and guitar/vocalist Jeff Bethke) that combines heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies with rich and rhythmic musical arrangements. The music can best be described as retro pop with folk, blues, and soul influence.
