About Camp Crush

Camp Crush is a synth-pop duo based in Portland, OR, one that pays homage to both nostalgic New Wave and current day synth infused pop. Formed in 2017 by singer/songwriter/keyboardist Jen Deale and drummer Chris Spicer, the husband-and-wife band launched onto the northwest music scene with their vocal-forward synth-rich pop tunes and dynamic live performance. Happy Mag describes them best: “The duo glide through a cinematic brand of indie-pop that is completely endearing and damn-near mesmerizing.”

Partnering with grammy-nominated producer Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Hatchie, Maggie Rogers) and grammy winning engineer & producer Rian Lewis (Doja Cat, Gorillaz, Chromeo), Camp Crush is releasing their debut studio LP, Up at Night, on April 11, 2025. Following 4 EPs previously released by the band, Up at Night is the full realization of their sound as a duo.

“This new record is our best work yet, pulling the threads on dark wave, new wave and current day inspirations. Jorge, our producer for much of this record, really helped us realize the driving and edgier sound to much of these new songs. Balanced with our work with Rian Lewis, we’ve created a unique sound that we couldn’t be more proud of,” Jen says of the new project. The first single from the record (Mind’s Eye, released October 2024) is a taste of the darker themes and tones present on the new album.

Inspired by bands like The Cure, New Order, Berlin and Blondie, the duo continues to evolve, bridging influences of the past and modern day pop sounds. OPB Music says, “Deale’s booming voice carries the songs while Spicer provides the perfect, steady backbeat, and they exude genuine happiness during every song.”

“Ever larger synthscapes push singer-keyboardist Jen Deale’s marvelous voice and life mate Chris Spicer’s inventive drumming toward new heights” -Willamette Week

“With a dynamic chemistry that shines through… Camp Crush consistently draws listeners into their fanciful world of glamor and sophistication.” -Melodic Magazine

“Glittery synth pop, crafting songs that pair perfectly with both bright city lights and hidden shadows.” -Under the Radar
