PDX Jazz proudly presents Stumptown Sirens Jazz Orchestra, the Pacific Northwest’s first all-women big band, in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8. Led by Jessika “Jessie” Smith, the ensemble brings together some of the region’s most distinguished musicians, arrangers, composers, and bandleaders for a unique program honoring great female composers from past to present.
The orchestra features Kerry Politzer on piano/keys, Leah Hinchcliff on bass, Rivkah Ross on drums; Mieke Bruggeman-Smith, Chelsea Luker, Michelle Medler, and Mary-Sue Tobin on saxophones/woodwinds; Jenny Kellogg and Shayna Waldman on trombones; and Aliyah Jackson and Amanda Marquis on trumpets.
