Singles will be matched, meet for the first time, then join a comedian on stage (the lube) to have a first date! YES, we will be putting audience members on BLIND DATES in real time at the show! That means YOU, yes, YOU can come and possibly find your soul mate! (Or at the very least go home with a funny af story.) Each couple will have a date on the stage and be joined by a licensed professional* (*fully unlicensed comedian) to LUBE up the conversation to make sure it flows, is entertaining, and fully capitalize on any weird shit that comes up. (The last part mostly for the sake of the audience and laughs.) Hosted by stand up comedian and writer, Cait Chock, who is single for MANY reasons but NOT because she can’t dazzle a first conversation. She shines in a first impression then actively decay like a free radical. She’s a lost cause but she’s using her conversational skills to help YOU find love! We may not guarantee you find love but we DO guarantee it will be a helluva lot more fun than another boring and slightly deranged tinder meet-up. They are widely known for their dazzling live performances and relentless touring schedule, but that is only the tip of the complex tale of the five musicians that make up Greensky Bluegrass: Anders Beck [dobro], Michael Arlen Bont [banjo], Dave Bruzza [guitar], Mike Devol [upright bass], and Paul Hoffman [Mandolin]. The five are connected through a deep bond, just as they are seasoned road warriors, they’re a band of brothers who have seen each other through decades of ups and downs, personal and collective highlights, and the moments when life turns it all upside down. These are real people having real experiences. As with traditional bluegrass, they write about their own contemporary day-to-day happenings, emotions, and experiences in the modern world. The band’s underground die-hard fans pack out venues across the country. They travel in droves and sell out multiple-night show runs at iconic venues like Red Rocks and The Ryman. “As songwriters and musicians, we have a need for people to be on board, we’re not just regurgitating the same shit,” explains Bruzza. Hoffman adds, “we aren’t a band all for money. We did it for romantic reasons such as love, catharsis, and because it mattered to us and the listeners. It would be easy to make decisions based on our needs to eat or the desires of others, but that’s not doing it for love. As the two started making music together in the early 1990s, there was hardly anything that the two didn’t do ‘wrong’, and therefore, exactly right. At the time, Vienna was a metropolis of the aspiring techno movement and was active, during the initial heyday of the revolutionary style. But the two gentlemen, K&D, rather followed the tradition of the continental cosmic ‘dancefloor’ of the 1980s, which searched for a universal language of dance music, influenced by hip hop, rare groove, dub, new wave and last but not least, of music that stood out between all those categories. As the first post-acid jazz productions of labels like Ninja Tune or Mo Wax heralded a new era, Kruder & Dorfmeister were already a step ahead of those protagonists. The sound of K&D’s groundbreaking debut ‘G-Stoned’, already apparently influenced by the elegiac arrangements of productions from the 1960s and 1970s of Afro-jazz and Pink Floyd, made many top producers begin scratching the backs of their heads, asking themselves who could have generated such an organically-flowing, complex yet subtle sound with only two Akai samplers, a Roland Space Delay and a dusty mixer. Offers came pouring in like heavy rainfall in a mid summers day, but the two stubborn gentlemen didn’t play along: after the success of their ‘DJ-Kicks’ and ‘Sessions’ CDs, which sold millions worldwide, they turned down most of them.
