Their journey began on a warm summer evening at a Portland Pickles baseball game, where they played their first official set, and found their groove. After that unforgettable debut, they have embraced the whimsical charm of the band name while delivering the improvisational magic and soulful energy that fans of the Dead know and love.

Steal Your Bass isn’t your typical Grateful Dead cover band- they’ve reimagined the entire sonic landscape of the Dead’s music by replacing the traditional lead guitar with a lead bass bringing the music to new depths. The band features an allstar lineup with members from the popular PDX jam bands Bodhi Mojo, Supernatural Beavers, Lost Ox and Redwood Revue. Their unconventional lead bass approach transforms the Dead’s classic and familiar repertoire into something nostalgic and entirely fresh, proving the experimental spirit of the Grateful Dead is alive and well!
