In 1693, a Spanish galleon loaded with Asian luxury goods and beeswax was blown hundreds of miles off course and wrecked on the Oregon Coast. The origins of the goods on board remained unknown until recently. Scott Williams of the Maritime Archaeological Society presents 18 years of research on Oregon’s Beeswax Wreck.
Scott Williams is the former executive director and a founding member of the Maritime Archaeological Society and director of the Beeswax Wreck Research Project since it began in 2006. During his 40-year career as an archaeologist, Scott has worked throughout the Pacific Basin and the Pacific Northwest on a wide variety of research projects on land and underwater.
