Forest Grove was once the home of the Gay Nineties festival, an annual celebration of 1890s nostalgia which featured the Original All-Northwest Barbershop Ballad Contest broadcast nationally. Historian Elle Griego explains how our small Oregon town earned the nickname “Ballad Town USA” from 1947 until the 1990s. Featuring a life performance by the Sasquatch 5 barbershop quartet!
