Blog: Halloween Fun 2016

Halloween is quickly approaching and there are many shows that you can attend. All week long leading up to Halloween there is a show to get you into the Halloween spirit.

If you want an easier(less scary) start to your festivities, head on over to the Poor Farm Pumpkin Patch and Carving Challenge at McMenamins Edgefield on Sunday October 23rd. This is an all ages event. The event goes from 12pm-6pm at the Edgefield Blackberry Hall & Meadow. There will be a pumpkin patch, with carving tables available. The childrens movie, Hotel Transylvania will be played, there will be Edgefield cider tastings and nonalcoholic fresh cider pressing. They will have caramel apples, pizza, popcorn, Black Widow Porter and Seasonal ales on tap. With a $10 ticket you get a pumpkin and a carving kit.

For more of an adult setting we have the Daze of the Dead Festival happening throughout the week. On Monday October 24th Opeth kicks of Daze of the Dead Festival on their Sorceress World Tour. They will be playing at the Roseland Theater. Making our way through the week, Yellowcard is playing as part of Daze of the Dead Festival on their, The Final World Tour. They will also be playing at the Roseland Theater on Tuesday October 25th.

Getting us through our hump day is The Dillinger Escape Plan at Dante’s on Wednesday October 26th. The Dillinger Escape Plan is a mathcore band formed in the ’90s. Bad Religion is playing on Thursday the 27th to a sold out crowd at the Roseland Theater. Niykee Heaton will be playing as part of the Daze of the Dead Festival on Friday the 28th and the Hawthorne Theatre as part of the Centerfold Tour.

Kicking of the Halloween weekend is the Portland Erotic Ball at the Crystal Ballroom, which will have a costume contest with $5000 worth of prizes. There will also by stilt walkers, aerial and burlesque performers. Portland Erotic Ball will be hosted by Sasha Scarlett and have music by DJ OG One.

Daze of the Dead Festival ends on Sunday December 30th with Nef the Pharaoh at Peter’s Room. Sum 41 will also be playing that Sunday at The Hawthorne Theatre. And on Halloween itself, Sebastian Bach will be playing at the Hawthorne Theatre, sponsored by 105.9 The Brew!
